John Edward Schreuders and Basia Julianna Morofsky are to be married in the Couples Swept Away resort in Negril Jamaica on May 17th, 2007.
Both the bride and bridegroom are from Canada and met during Canada Day weekend festivities hosted by Ms. Morofsky in 2005. The relationship began with several road trips back and forth with John living in Toronto and Basia living in Ottawa. Finally the couple and their lovable 120 lbs Rottweiler, named Angus, decided to move to New York City in February 2006.
Mr. Schreuders, 34, is an Assistant Vice President and Computer Engineer at Lehman Brothers in New York City. John studied at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston Ontario and served in the Canadian Navy for 4 years before settling into the private sector. John volunteers his computer programming skills to GPS Inc. a company dedicated to saving energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and surpassing the standards set by the Kyoto Protocol.
He is the son of Elizabeth Schreuders who lives in Toronto, Ontario with his sister Wilma, his brother-in-law Chad and their two beautiful children Nicholas and Minda. Elizabeth was a Registered Nurse in The Netherlands and once she immigrated to Canada she became a Registered Nurse Assistant at the Hillel Lodge old age home for Jewish seniors.
Ms. Morofsky, 29, is the Chief of the Radiation Emergency Response Unit of the Office of Radiological Health in the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and a graduate from the University of New Brunswick – Canada. Ms. Morofsky is an Emergency Manager and has volunteered her time with Magellan Engineering on weapons detection field teams and emergency response planning. Recently Basia has been named Volunteer Partner in the Disaster Planning and Response Department of the American Red Cross of Greater New York.
She is the daughter of Dr. Edward and Martha Morofsky who live in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Morofsky is an Energy Efficiency Engineer with Public Works Canada. Her mother, Martha, is a Records Management Consultant for the Canadian Government.
